Training for South Tapanuli villages by Socfindo Conservation

The South Tapanuli Regency Government has a program on family food security. On this occasion, South Tapanuli collaborated with Socfindo Conservation to conduct trainings for villages in South Tapanuli, aiming at sharing knowledge about medicinal plants.

This training catered for 214 villages in South Tapanuli, whereby each village sent two of their representatives. The participants were divided into 5 groups. Each group attending a three-days training during which everyone was provided with a workshop booklets. The booklet was designed to facilitate the incorporate both the theory and field practice.

The education material contained 9 training modules namely Module 1 : Land Analysis, Module 2 : Garden style, Module 3 : Introduction to Plant Types, Module 4 : Designing and Drawing, Module 5 : Areal Preparation, Module 6 : Sowing and Planting Techniques, Module 7 : Garden Care and Management, Module 8 : Jamu Preparation, Module 9 : Making Eco-Enzyme.

The training activities for the five groups have now been successfully completed. In general, they were happy to participate in this activity because it allowed them to gain new knowledge. They said they are looking forward to implement their new skills at home and in their villages, whilst potentially allowing for new income streams for the family and villages in Tapanuli Selatan.
