Dolok Masihul Secondary School “SMPN 1” visits Socfindo Conservation
Students from Dolok Masihul Secondary School “SMPN1” visit Socfindo Conservation to learn about plants in general. They were excited to learn about the plants and hear about the many projects hosted at Socfindo Conservation, many of which are situated in their own village Dolok Masihul.

Natural skincare making with Prof. Lilis Sukeksi
Having gathered such a large plant collection, Socfindo Conservation wanted to explore the potential opportunities of making skin care products from its plants. Since there is a global movement towards combining skincare with organic products where people look for plant-based ingredients in their beauty products. Many opportunities lie in the downstream market. Therefore Prof Lilis Sukeksi was invited from University of North Sumatra to hold a workshop in making natural skincare products such as bar soap, shampoo, face wash and moisturizer.

Plants exploration by Socfindo Conservation team in Tapanuli Selatan Regency
The Socfindo Conservation team conducted plant exploration in Sipirok and Pahae. As many as 50 plants have been collected during exploration activities, to be conserved ex situ in Socfindo Conservation Garden. Currently, there are 1500 types of plants planted in the Socfindo Conservation Garden.

The Socfindo Conservation team visits Tapanuli Selatan
As a follow-up to the collaboration between Socfindo Conservation and South Tapanuli Regency in the family food security program, the Socfindo Conservation Team visited Muara Purba Nauli village in South Tapanuli. All villages in South Tapanuli have received medicinal plant seedlings from Socfindo Conservation. The South Tapanuli Regent and Head of PKK (Family Welfare Program) were present for initial planting of medicinal plants together with Socfindo Conservation team. In addition, the Socfindo Conservation team also held training on making healthy noodles and “telang” drinks.
